supporting big life
We are delighted to be donating £5 per booking to the African wildlife protection charity Big Life Foundation……
If elephant poaching in East Africa continues at its present rate elephants could be extinct in the wild within 20 years.
To prevent this we need a 2 pronged attack: stop the poaching and reduce the demand for ivory.
Big Life, founded by renowned photographer Nick Brandt (one of his elephant prints is on display in the house) & conservationist Richard Bonham, has been at the forefront of anti-poaching initiatives in Kenya/Tanzania since 2011. Big Life employs 315 rangers, with 31 outposts and 15 vehicles protecting 2 million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo ecosystem of E. Africa. Since 2011 their rangers have made 1420 arrests and confiscated 3012 weapons.
If you’d like to contribute or match our £5 donation, we will be leaving Big Life envelopes in the house - or you may prefer to visit their own website.
Meanwhile, on reducing demand, WildAid has had significant successes raising awareness in China and other Asian countries - including support from the Chinese Government who recently publicly destroyed several tons of ivory and we are proud to be supporting them too.
